Environmental Document

The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) has prepared an Initial Study (IS) with Negative Declaration, which examines the potential environmental impacts of the proposed Mojave Pavement project located in and near the community of Mojave, situated within Kern County, California. Caltrans is the lead agency under the California Environmental Quality Act as well as the National Environmental Policy Act. The document explains why the project is being proposed, the existing environment that could be affected by the project, potential impacts of each of the alternatives, and the proposed avoidance and minimization measures.

Caltrans has evaluated the potential for impacts to the environment in the following categories, and has made a draft determination that, overall, the project would have no significant impact to the environment.
