General Project Information

The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) proposes improvements to a 5 mile stretch of State Route 14 in Kern County. The project would begin south of the town of Mojave at postmile R12.6, approximately 0.40 miles north of Silver Queen Road and extend through downtown Mojave, terminating approximately 0.35 miles west of Minard Trail Road at postmile 16.70. The project would rehabilitate the existing roadbed, upgrade existing bridge railing and metal beam guard railing, upgrade drainage systems, reconfigure the north and south junction of Business Route 58 and State Route 14, construct an acceleration lane at Purdy Avenue, construct sidewalks and driveways, and bring curb ramps up to Americans with Disabilities Act standards.

The project has been approved by the California Department of Transportation. A final environmental document has been signed and is uploaded to this website.

A virtual public information meeting was held to discuss the project on Tuesday, April 25th from 5:30pm to 6:30pm.
